A: Yes of course, Hwa Rang Do® is a complete martial art that encompasses all forms of combat. A Hwa Rang Do® practitioner is taught to be confident with any situation that may arise. Whether the situation deals you more than one attacker, if the combat were to inevitably result on the ground, or if you are faced against an assailant with a weapon of any sort. The diversity and multifaceted aspects of Hwa Rang Do® helps one be prepared during any aspect of combat. Hwa Rang Do's® grappling aspects include an extensive array of chokes, arm locks, joint manipulation, leg locks, and ground manipulation to gain the upper hand. Whereas, ending up on the ground is always the last resort to a situation. In Hwa Rang Do® you learn how to break the distance, extensive in-fighting, and throws and takedowns so that you may control and contain your opponent with the least amount of effort and not ending up on the ground in an unpredictable situation.
Q: What is Tae Soo Do® ?
A: After a rigorous analysis of the successes and failures in the martial arts community, Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee created Tae Soo Do® as a simplified subset of Hwa Rang Do® (the undergraduate Hwa Rang Do® Program) that is more accessible to all martial art enthusiasts no matter their experience level. Like Tae Kwon Do and Karate, Tae Soo Do® is much more sport oriented. It focuses on inner mechanics of the martial arts to build a strong foundation to build upon. One will learn to achieve a sense of confidence to empower them to achieve much higher aspirations within themselves. Tae Soo Do® is a very effective means of self defense, physical and mental well-being, and a catalyst for the development of a true, traditional martial artist.

Q: What
is Sulsa?
Q: How do I pick a qualified, beneficial martial arts school for myself and my children?
A: The number of martial art schools in your area are probably growing at a substantial rate. Due to the popularity of martial arts such as jujitsu, karate, tae kwon do, and many more - business owners are realizing the marketability of this growing interest. Yet, amidst all the "commercial" schools, there will still be those who hold steadfast to tradition, culture, etiquette, and the martial art experience as a complete endeavor of mind, body, and spirit. To find a great school for your family, be aware of the school environment and how confident and concerned the instructor seems in your growth and development. Make sure that the emphasis on children is discipline, respect, developing confidence, and the ability to learn self control to help them fight without fighting. For adults, make sure you look for the complete, diversity of the art. Do they offer more than just one aspect of the arts, are they traditional and affiliated with a renowned source of knowledge, are they interested in the growth of your character and not just your physical well-being. There are many factors that help you choose the "right" school for your family. Whereas, you must be willing to sacrifice in order to receive the best instruction possible. Never set your standards to cost or convenience. But rather, look at the quality and the motives of the school. Good luck! If you have questions about Hwa Rang Do® schools in your area please contact the World Headquarters for a free listing.
Q: I have a 3 year old daughter whom I am interested in enrolling in class. When is too early to get a child started in class?
A: At Hwa Rang Do® Academies throughout the world, there are special programs set up accordingly for children from age 3 to 5 years old. Typically, at these young ages, the main focus of class is to help prepare the child for further growth in martial arts. Learning coordination, develop small and large motor skills, enhancing mental focus and learning ability, and most importantly have fun! Age 5 or 6 is usually the best age to get a child started in the actual children's Hwa Rang Do® / Tae Soo Do® program. Yet ages 3 to 5 will benefit from training in incredible measures as well. Thus in essence, the younger your child starts the better the child will be in the future of their martial art growth.
